thoughts on rescue

If you want to rescue a rabbit, you need to...

Understand that the biggest thing about rescuing without the support of the shelter or rescue, is being prepared to take on responsibility if your little one never gets adopted. I wish I had a proper carrier, hay, a secured area/play pen, lots of chewing toys, bedding, hidey hole, blankets, etc, but it's the - mindset - that will help you do right by the little ones.

If you are not ready for that, the best thing you can do is wait with the rabbit (do not touch) while making calls to your local shelter.

Do not be impulsive. It does more harm than good.

February is Rescue a Rabbit Month. If you can, opt to adopt. We adopted Macaron from Friends of Unwanted Rabbits - a great rescue based in Northern California.

If you're in Southern California, we highly recommend rescues like LA Rabbit Foundation , Bunny Bunch Rabbit Rescue & Save SomeBunny Rabbit Rescue . We personally have either worked with or collaborated with volunteers from these rescues and can attest to their rabbit savviness!
